Comprehensive Standard: For each major in a degree program, the institution assigns responsibility for program coordination, as well as for curriculum development and review, to persons academically qualified in the field. In those degree programs for which the institution does not identify a major, this requirement applies to a curricular area or concentration.

Narrative:
As discussed in Standards 3.4.1 and 3.4.10, both curricular development and review, as well as coordination of major fields and concentrations, begin with departmental committees. While students may serve on some committees, responsibility for program development and curriculum review remains primarily with faculty. (Faculty credentials are provided in section 3.7.1.) On the college level, curriculum committees oversee changes in courses or programs. [1] The specific individual who oversees and coordinates each program is appointed by the department chair and, as the attached lists [2] demonstrate, these faculty have appropriate academic qualifications to carry out their program direction assignments.
