In January 2017, Georgia State established a committee structure to oversee the university’s preparations for reaffirmation of accreditation (see diagram).
Reaffirmation Leadership Team
The Reaffirmation Leadership Team (RLT) oversees the 2019 reaffirmation process by providing leadership and resources to the committees preparing the reaffirmation documents and by ensuring the university is in compliance with SACSCOC standards. The Leadership Team will give final approval of two key documents to SACSCOC:
- the Compliance Certification
- the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
Office of Institutional Effectiveness
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) works in concert with the Leadership Team to oversee the the preparation of the Compliance Certification. Led by the Associate Provost of Institutional Effectiveness, the OIE coordinates and reviews the work of the writing teams responsible for drafting sections of the report and offers recommendations to the Leadership Team regarding needed changes and improvements in GSU policies, practices, and programs. OIE staff shares draft sections of the Compliance Certification with a reaffirmation consultant and incorporate the feedback provided as appropriate.
Compliance Certification Writing Teams
GSU has established seven teams to draft the university’s Compliance Certification, which demonstrates how GSU adheres to SACSCOC core requirements, comprehensive standards, and federal requirements. The teams are grouped by content so that they may share information in a more efficient manner and build a support community. The team format also ensures consistency to meet the expectations of SACSCOC. The writing teams will review policies, procedures, and programs to determine compliance and to identify any potential areas of concern that should be addressed.
